What exactly is a 4evermemories memorial?
A private web page devoted to one person, holding their photos, videos, life story, recordings of their voice, a timeline of their life and notes from the people who loved them. It is linked to a small QR code that can be placed on a headstone, plaque, urn or memorial stone. Scan the code with any phone and the memorial opens.
Do visitors need an app or an account to view a memorial?
No. Anyone with a phone can scan the code or open the link. If the memorial is private or password protected, they will need the password or an invitation from the memorial's owner.
Can I create a memorial for a pet?
Yes. A memorial is for anyone worth remembering, and that includes the animals who shared our lives.
Is this only for people in Canada?
4evermemories is built in Canada and open to families anywhere in the world. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars.
Creating a memorial
How long does it take to set up?
A simple memorial with a portrait, dates and a short story can be ready in a few minutes. Most families add to it over weeks and years, and that is exactly what it is for. Nothing has to be finished on day one.
Can other family members add to it?
Yes. Relatives and friends can submit their own notes, poems and photos, each signed with who they were to the person. Nothing appears until the memorial's owner approves it, so the page always stays true to the person and the family.
Can I change things later?
Everything on the page can be edited at any time, and the QR code keeps working. The code points to a permanent address that never changes, even if the content, the photos or the name are updated.
What about large video files from my phone?
Upload straight from your phone. Uploads resume if your connection drops, and each video is prepared in several qualities so it plays smoothly wherever it is watched, including at a graveside on a weak signal.
The QR code
How do I put the QR code on a headstone or plaque?
Your memorial comes with a print-ready QR code you can download. Engravers, monument companies and plaque makers can work from that file. Many families also choose a small weatherproof plaque or tag that attaches to an existing stone.
Will the code still work in ten or twenty years?
The code points to a permanent address that is reserved for that memorial for as long as it is active. It is never reused or reassigned.
Privacy
Who can see the memorial?
That is entirely your choice. Each memorial can be public, private to invited people, visible only to someone with the link, or protected by a password. You can change this at any time.
Who owns the photos and stories I upload?
You do. Always. We host them for you and never use them for anything else.
Pricing and subscriptions
Why is there a monthly subscription?
Photos, videos and recordings take real space, and keeping them safe, backed up and instantly available takes ongoing care. A small monthly fee is what allows us to promise that the memorial will be there when someone scans the code, year after year.
What happens if I stop paying?
The memorial is paused and cannot be viewed, but nothing is deleted straight away. You have six months to reactivate it, with everything kept exactly as it was. Reactivating carries a one-time $49 fee. If the memorial is still unpaid after six months, the account is closed and its content is permanently removed. We will remind you well before that happens.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. You can move to a larger package at any time, and add extra storage in 10 GB blocks whenever you need it.
